Growing SMEs in London, UK

I attended an event at the Houses of Parliament, in Westminster, London, UK. I admired how a first-world country is willing to help small businesses prosper and eliminate any form of slavery in business. Here are some of the notes I took:
"You can't be productive without good management."
-Barry Sheerman, MP
"CMI is making management a profession; create better managers and leaders that can improve productivity to 30% "
-Ann Francke, CEO of CMI
"UK has highest number of startups, growing every year, and lowest rate of scaling startups due to bad management. Good management can mean difference between diving and thriving."
Supper Club aims to make Britain an enterprising nation, drives innovation by:
1. Focusing, avoid distraction; stay alert. Don't be distracted by shiny objects
2. Communicate: clarify and simplify
3. Calibrate: measure, analyze, repeat
4. Delegate. Have team in place. Invest in yourself and team. Make yourself redundant.
5. De-risk. Make time to see what's on track. Don't get wiped out.
Could your team carry out tasks without you?
(Emma Jane-Packe)
CMI needs to "collaborate...drive importance of leadership, continue with business and business schools; offer mentorship and apprenticeship"
"UK has higest number of startups, what if we had highest survival and growth rate? It could make Britain even greater."

Karen Bradley, MP:
"Right products, right sales, right management are needed"
"Goverment is committed to help you succeed; champion small business procurement; make sure small business has minister of preventing abuse and exploitation."
"UK wants to be the world leader in fighting slavery."
"Pass legislation, large businesses will have to report annual basis have to comply in fighting slavery. Supply chains will be free of slavery-promote it. Customers know no slavery in supply chains. If we did this, we'll change the world."
